WALK-OFF ALERT; MUCKDOGS’ VAUGHN DRIVES IN FINAL RUN IN 4-3 WIN
June 26, 2026
BATAVIA, NY- It was a creation of another instant classic in an out-of-league 7 inning game
against the visiting Buffalo Diesel. Your Muckdogs started off with back-to-back RBI doubles in
the bottom of the 3rd from Braeden Eye and Bryan Johnson to put Batavia up 2-0. The next half
inning the Diesel would respond with 2 of their own, first with a Nick Jasinski sac-fly to left,
then an RBI single off the bat of Aiden Mroz to tie the game at 2 a piece. The score would stay
the same, through debuts from high school talents Matt Cardona (1 IP, 1 K, 1 BB, 0 Hits, 2 ER),
Jared MacFarland (2 IP, 1 K, 0 BB, 2 Hits, 0 ER), and Bruce Hanna (0 for 2, Run), until the
bottom of the 7th, where, after Jalen David scored on an overthrow into center field, with a
runner on 3rd, Kyle Vaughn stepped up to the plate and hit a walk-off single to the second
baseman to score Jacob Veczko and win the game, 4-3.
Offensively for the Diesel, Nolan Evans (1 for 4, 2B, RBI), and Adam Scibetta (1 for 1, BB, 2B,
Run, HBP) stood out. For your Muckdogs, Bryan Johnson stood out, going 1 for 3 with a double,
stolen bad, and walk, and an RBI. Braeden Eye stood out, batting 1 for 1 today with a double, a
walk, a run, and an RBI. And last but most certainly not least, Kyle Vaughn immensely stood
out, as he went 1 for 3 with the walk-off RBI single.
Pitching Coach Grant Bickham would pick up the win in this one, throwing 2.0 IP, sadly without
a strikeout to many fans, players, coaches, and employees/interns' dismay. Zach Leiten holds the
L today, throwing 0.1 innings of 1 hit baseball as he allowed the walk-off. No save was
registered.
