THEY JUST KEEP WINNING; ‘DOGS BEAT RED WINGS 8-7 IN CLASSIC
July 7, 2026
BATAVIA, NY- This one got underway fast, as Geneva scored first, not by their own doing,
however, as Quinn Mahoney was walked, scoring Dylan Briggs. Batavia would clap back
though, as Glenn Brooks would hit a sac-fly scoring Jackson Inman, then James Quintero would
hit an RBI single down the left field line to score Cooper Russell, 2-1 Muckdogs. Batavia would
continue to lay down the law, as the ‘Dogs would score 4 more over the next two innings. In the
2nd, Bryan Johnson would hit an RBI double scoring Jalen Roque, and an E2 would score
newcomer Jaden Vasquez in the 2nd as well. In the 3rd, Glenn Brooks would score on a fielder’s
choice, and Jalen Roque would hit a single that would eventually drive in Cooper Russell on an
E2, 6-1 Batavia. Geneva would put one of their own runs up on a Dylan Briggs RBI single but
would be answered by a Muckdog run off a fielder’s choice scoring Cooper Russell, 7-2 Batavia.
Fast forward to the top of the 6th, where Geneva would put up two more, the first on a dropped
third strike, and the second on a Connor McGough RBI single, 7-4 Batavia. Your Muckdogs
would add another in the 7th, however, as Evan Brock would hit a sac-fly driving in Jackson
Inman, 8-4. Geneva would make this game a game however, after a 2-run home run off the bat of
Chase Fogg in the 8th and a Michael Ucci RBI single in the 9th, but Eric Woodley had enough
and shut the door on the Red Wings to make the final score 8-7 Muckdogs.
Offensively for the Red Wings, Chase Fogg (2 for 2, HR, 2 RBI, run, BB) and Connor McGough
(3 for 5, 2B, RBI, run) stood out. For your Muckdogs, Jackson Inman became the star of the
game, going 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and two runs, Glenn Brooks went 2 for 3 with a double, an
RBI and a run, and Bryan Johnson went 2 for 3 with a double, RBI, a walk and a stolen bag.
Carter “Fridge” Ward gets his second win of the season, throwing 2.2 innings of 2 run ball, all
earned, striking out 6. Austin Deitz takes the L here, throwing 4 innings of 6 run ball, 4 earned,
without a strikeout. Eric Woodley picks up his 5th save of the year, throwing the final inning of
baseball today, allowing 1 run while striking out 1.
