MUCKDOGS WIN HOME OPENER VS PIONEERS IN WALK-OFF FASHION
May 30, 2026
BATAVIA, NY- The Muckdogs came out the gates firing on all cylinders with a steal of home,
which was combated by a Pios sac fly. After that, the Muckdogs took off and never slowed
down, scoring 11 unanswered runs and mercied Elmira 12-1 in the seventh inning.
The steal of home came after Landon Hu stole second, allowing Cooper Romich to score.
Elmira’s only run of the game came from a sac fly off the bat of Manoel Essley, scoring Ryan
Jones. However, it would not matter in the end, as Jacob Veczko (1-2, BB) blasted a 2-run home
run to walk off the Pioneers.
Gavin Chandler would earn the win after throwing 5 2/3 innings, striking out 2 and allowing 1
run earned. Lucas Hail would be the unfortunate one getting the loss, pitching 4 innings with 3
strikeouts and allowing 3 earned runs.
Your Batavia Muckdogs during game stole a season high 11 bases against the Pioneers,
highlighting the Skip Martinez baseball Muckdog fans know and love.
Your Muckdogs will be home once again tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 against the 0-2 Olean
Oilers on Meet the Team night. For tickets, please call (585) 524-2260 or visit the Muckdogs
Box Office.
