MUCKDOGS WIN FIRST GAME OF THE YEAR OVER PIONEERS
May 29, 2026
ELMIRA, NY- The Muckdogs quickly went down 5 after the first 3 innings as Noah Nix went down after the 1st with an apparent shoulder injury. Your Muckdogs wouldn’t get a run across until the 5th.
That run would come from a Bryan Johnson sacrifice fly to right field to drive in Myles Monell, followed by Joey Socorro scoring on an error by the catcher, Braden Doubek. The Muckdogs and Pioneers would then partake in a back-and-forth battle until the Muckdogs would emerge victorious, 8-6.
Walter Garrett would earn the win in this instant classic, with Eric Woodly gaining the save and Kannon VanDuzer being forced to take the L. Brett Baker of the Pios had his first multi-hit game of the season, buying two singles and a double.
The Muckdogs will host the Pios tomorrow night, May 30th, at historic Dwyer Stadium, for their home opener where there will be Post-Game Fireworks. For tickets, call (585) 524-2260.
