MUCKDOGS SUFFER TRAGICALLY AT AUBURN IN 9-6 LOSS
June 23, 2026
AUBURN, NY- Your Muckdogs came out of the gate swinging and looking ready for war, as the
scored 2 runs in the first 2 innings on a Myles Monell single that scored Cooper Russell and a
Kyle Vaughn sac-fly that scored James Quintero. Auburn would answer with two of their own on
a Luke Guire RBI single and a Collin Haug ground out. Batavia would fire back with an Evan
Brock RBI single to score Jalen David in the 3 rd , then again Evan Brock would reach on base, via
error this time, scoring Jalen David yet again in the 5 th , making the score 4-2. However, the
saying “what goes up must come down” exists for a reason, as the 5 th inning was a massive
struggle for your Muckdogs. A wild pitch, a dropped pop fly, a double steal, and a 2 RBI double
later, the ‘Dogs are losing 7-4, and continue to get pushed further down in the 7 th after two
unearned runs on separate errors occur, making the score 9-4. Batavia pushed once more in the
9 th , as Cooper Romich would score on a Jeremy Ramos bases-loaded walk and Myles Monell
would score when Jalen David would reach base on a fielder's choice. Outside of the two runs,
nothing else would occur as the game would end in a 9-6 Doubledays victory.
Offensively for Auburn, Flynn Shoop (3 for 5, SB, RBI, run), Justin Batts (2 for 4, SB, BB, run),
and Teddy Monahan (2 for 3, 2B, 2 RBIs, 2 runs, BB, SB) all stood out for the Doubledays. As
for your Batavia Muckdogs, Jalen David, Evan Brock (2), Myles Monell, Kyle Vaughn, and
Jeremy Ramos all had RBIs, while Jalen David, Cooper Russell, and Myles Monell all added to
their stolen base numbers by 1.
Matthew Cholay would pick up the W for Auburn in this one with 7 IP and 1 strikeout while
improving his record to 3-1. Walter Garrett is taking the L, throwing 1.1 IP with 1 strikeout as
well. Garrett’s record is now 1-1. No save was registered.
