Muckdogs, Stallions Take Home Coaching Staff of the Year Honors

Previously named Coach of the Year, the award was rebranded as "Coaching Staff of the Year" for the 2026 season and expanded to include one honoree from each of the Divisions.

The PGCBL champion Muckdogs' coaching staff took home the honors for the West Division.

Head Coach Joey Martinez has been with Batavia since the 2021 season and was also co-named the PGCBL Coach of the Year for the Muckdogs in 2023.  

Batavia went 29-10-1 in the regular season and won the West Division by 2.5 games. They hit .306 as a team with 9 home runs in 40 games and had 100 extra base hits. They scored 338 runs this season with a league high 169 stolen bases. The pitching staff had a league leading 4.57 ERA and recorded 375 strikeouts in 333 innings. Defensively, Batavia had a .960 fielding percentage, good for third best in the league.

In the playoffs, Batavia defeated Auburn 12-1 in the first round, won the West by beating Jamestown 6-4 and won their first PGCBL Championship by decisively defeating Utica by a 13-1 score.

Stallions head coach Collin Martin, who was selected as the 2025 PGCBL Coach of the Year, will celebrate the award with his staff again this year as recipients in the East Division.

Martin is in his ninth year with the Stallions and eighth as Head Coach. He was on the staff for Saugerties' first championship in 2021, when Rich Dubee won the Coach of the Year award and Saugerties also won the championship in 2025 with Martin at the helm.

Martin's staff led the Stallions to a 25-11 record in 2026 and clinched the #2 seed in the East Division.

This year's Stallions team batted .304, good for third best in the league. They scored 308 runs in 36 games, hitting 22 home runs with 98 extra base hits, and stole 133 bases. The pitching staff was fifth in the league with a 5.44 ERA and they struck out 274 batters in 294.2 innings. They committed the least amount of errors of any team in the PGCBL and had a .965 fielding percentage.
