MUCKDOGS LOSE TWO STRAIGHT; IRONBACKS BEAT ‘DOGS 5-4

NIAGARA, CAN.- In a truly back and forth battle of the border, this matchup turned into an
instant classic. Your Muckdogs would start off the scoring in the 2 nd , as Braeden Eye would hit
an RBI single to score Cooper Romich, 1-0 ‘Dogs. Niagara would answer back in the 3 rd and 4 th
with 3 runs of their own, first with a Josh Bushen RBI single, then a Jordan Gallo RBI single,
and finally a bases-loaded walk of Josh Bushen in the 4 th putting the Ironbacks up 3-1. Batavia
would put up two across the 5 th & 6 th innings when Evan Brock would reach on an error to score
Luke Rybczynski and Braeden Eye would reach on a fielder’s choice to score Cooper Romich to
put the Muckdogs up by 1, 4-3. The Ironbacks would proceed to punt up 2 runs in the 6 th , the first
coming on a passed ball and the second coming on a Josh Bullock sac-fly, putting the Ironbacks
back out in front 5-4. Fast forward to the top of the ninth where the Muckdogs are up to bat, two
outs, tying run on third and go-ahead runner on second base, and a strikeout end the game.
Ironbacks beat the ‘Dogs, 5-4.
Offensively for the Ironbacks, Jordan Gallo (3 for 4, SB, RBI, run) and Josh Bushen (1 for 2, 2
RBI, BB) stood out. For your Muckdogs, Braeden Eye went 1 for 4 with an RBI, and both Jalen
David and Jalen Roque went 1 for 4 (David had a stolen bag).
Dylan Miles takes home the win in this one with 5.0 IP and 3 Ks. Jake Szlis receives the L,
throwing 3.2 innings and striking out 7. Nick Hayes picks up his first save of the year.
