MUCKDOGS ARE CHAMPS! PGCBL PUT ON NOTICE AFTER DOGS DESTROY BLUE SOX 13-1 IN PGCBL ‘SHIP

BATAVIA, NY- After getting pushed into a 1 game series after 2 consecutive East Division

postponements, the PGCBL Championship Game was upon us on a Friday night. This one

started with scoring in the 2nd, as Cooper Romich hit a sac-fly out to right center, driving in

James Quintero to put the ‘Dogs up 1-0. Batavia would strike again in the 3rd three times, the

first on a Jackson Inman RBI single, and the next two came in on an error by Utica’s shortstop,

scoring both Jackson Inman and Braedon Reina, 4-0. Your Muckdogs would drop 3 more on the

Blue Sox in the 4th on a Jalen David RBI double, a Braedon Reina RBI single, and a Glenn

Brooks sac-fly, 7-0 ‘Dogs. Utica would put up their only run in the 6th on a Kevin Francella RBI

single to right, but over the next 2 innings the Muckdogs would bury the Blue Sox even more

with a 2 RBI double from Jackson Inman, a Braedon Eye RBI single, a wild pitch that’d score

Evan Brock, a Cooper Romich RBI double to right center, and a Jalen Roque RBI double down

the left field line, along with a shutdown 9th by veteran Eric Woodley, your Batavia Muckdogs

would claim their first title in PGCBL history, and their first overall championship win since

2008. Gavin Chandler, the starting pitcher for your Muckdogs, would win the PGCBL

Championship Game MVP Award by completely shutting down the Blue Sox lineup over 5.1

innings.

Offensively for the Blue Sox, Michael Flashner had a three-hit game going 3 for 5, and Kevin

Francella went 1 for 4 with the Blue Sox’s only RBI. For your PGCBL Champion Muckdogs,

Jalen David went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles, an RBI, a stolen bag, 2 runs and a walk, Jackson Inman

went 2 for 3 with a double, 3 RBIs, 2 walks and 2 runs, Braedon Reina went 2 for 3 with an RBI,

3 runs and a walk, Glenn Brooks went 1 for 2 with an RBI, a stolen bag and a run, and Cooper

Romich went 1 for 2 with a double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs and a walk.

Gavin Chandler won his first ring and Championship MVP tonight, pitching 5.1 innings of 5

strikeout ball, allowing 1 earned on 5 hits. Michael Furst took the L, throwing the first two

innings of the game while striking out 2, allowing 1 earned on 2 hits.

This was the final game of the season, in which I would like to congratulate the entire Batavia

Muckdog organization on the elite season of baseball that was played, all the behind the scenes

work that happened, and earning the ring and trophy we all deserved. I would like to thank the

organization of CAN-USA for giving me the opportunity to be the one to write all the press

releases and game write ups as well as scoring all the Muckdog home games this season. I have

loved every second of it and would do it all over again if I had the opportunity. Signing off for
