MUCKDOGS ANNOUNCE PLAYER SIGNINGS

Marc Witt - The general manager said the Muckdogs will welcome back six returning players: ace starting pitcher Julian Pichardo, catcher Brice Mortillaro, outfielder Abner Benitez, first baseman Daniel Burroway, pitcher A.J. Winger and pitcher/shortstop Trey Bacon.

“We also have some local flavor again this season. It’s a rare occasion for these guys to get on our roster,” he said, mentioning players such as Notre Dame High School senior Gavin Schrader, who currently plays baseball at Notre Dame and hockey for Batavia Notre Dame United.

“Gavin actually committed to Niagara University. For the fall 2022 season, he’ll start college, so he’ll be able to play for us this summer,” Witt said. “We’re super-excited to have him.” Vincent Grazioplene, a catcher at Batavia High School, will play for the Muckdogs this summer as he gets ready to play at Erie Community College.

Grazioplene thanked those who attended today’s event.

“I’d like to thank Coach Joe (Head Coach Joey Martinez) and the Nichols family for giving me this opportunity to play. I can’t wait for the season to start and I’m excited to be a Muckdog,” he said.
