ABSOLUTE THRILLER IN GENEVA; MUCKDOGS WIN SHOOTOUT 16-14
June 16, 2026
GENEVA, NY- In what some thought would be an easy win for the Muckdogs turned in an absolute war of attrition. It was all Batavia within the first 9 outs of the game, starting off with an RBI single off Jackson Inman’s bat in the 1st. Batavia would explode in the second starting with James Quintero going yard, Myles Monell stealing third and scoring on an error, Bryan Johnson scoring on a Landon Hu RBI double, Jackson Inman hitting another single, this time scoring 2, and to cap off the 2nd, an Evan Brock 3-run shot to slingshot your Muckdogs out to a 9–0 lead. But this was only the beginning. Geneva would answer with 5 of their own in the bottom of the 2nd, starting with a bases-loaded walk of Dylan Briggs, an infield error resulting in Christopher Gonzalo scoring, another bases-loaded walk scoring Christian Bermudez, yet another walk that would score Dylan Briggs this time, and finished with a 4-3 double play that would score JC Gamble, bringing the score to 9-5. The rest of the game was back and forth on repeat, involving a 2-run homer from Jackson Inman, a 3-run homer from Geneva’s Christopher Gonzalo, and many walks from both sides. This war would end, however, as Evan Brock would hit a bases-loaded single scoring Cooper Russell, and a Joey Socorro sac-fly, scoring Glenn Brooks, followed up by a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th by returning closer Eric Woodly to give your Muckdogs their 8th win of the season with a final score of 16-14.
Offensively for Geneva, Christopher Gonzalo (1 for 4, HR, 3 RBI, 2 runs, BB), JC Gamble (2 for 5, 2 2B, 4 SB, 3 RBI, run, BB), and Michael Ucci (2 for 2, 3 runs, 2 BB) all stood out. For your Batavia Muckdogs, the three home run hitters in Jackson Inman (3 for 4, HR, 2 SB, 5 RBI, 3 runs, 2 BB), Evan Brock (2 for 4, 4 RBI, run, BB) whose hit streak is now at 8 games, and James Quintero (1 for 5, HR, run, BB) all stood out. Glenn Brooks also stood out, going 2 for 5 with a double, a stolen bag, 3 runs, and a walk.
The winning pitcher in this one is Batavia’s Eric Woodly (1-1), who threw the 1.2 IP with 5 Ks. The pitcher who is forced to hold the L here is Geneva’s Joshua Litsky, who threw the final inning of the game while striking out 1. No save was awarded.
